Best flooring for sound deadening between floors?

Considering Core-Tec for a up and down plex with sound traveling problems. Cork backed and expensive. Any better ideas? Should I lay 1/4 inch plywood under it also but think might be overkill.

Tenants are ready to fight now about little stuff. Plex people not getting along as well with entitlement mentality.

@Jeff S.

First thing is first, upgrade your tenants. You’ve gotta match them. Your zen based yoga instructor who meditates 9 hours a day before reaching an enlightenment level appropriate to buy their $12 latte won’t fit well with a frat party in the other unit.

Next:

1. Sound deadening insulation.

2. 2 layers drywall, likely 5/8”

3. Green glue between drywall layers

4. Resilient channel (de-couple)

5. Independent heat source (no common hvac ducting)

6. Rejoice
