I would say you are already a little out ahead of your skis because you are talking about growing and scaling without even understanding the partnership and real estate portion of your prospective business.

Should I be visiting, asking neighbors questions, getting a feel for the neighborhood and home (in person rather than just off of online research) before buying or making offers? 

I tried to look at some properties for STR in Pocono Lakes, Hudson Valley, and Jersey Heights as this will be my first investment I'm worried as these will be good locations to go ahead for STR.

If you can visit, I always say go for it.

But you know enough to be able to fill in the blanks and get close... public records, utility companies, visiting with residents, walking the park and networking with other park owners. 

You're already ahead of the game by educating yourself, so keep that momentum going.

If you decide to purchase it, go ahead and put it on the MLS. 

We are well visited for our 3 tier 1 universities, the research triangle park, travelling educators and nurses, and students.

Scheduled a visit to see my first property next week just to get-out-and-do-it already.
