I just landed a job in healthcare in the Charlottesville, VA area.

The main industries are healthcare and small business, and I am worried that finding quality renters is going to be an issue.  

One other factor you also need to think about is long term health care insurance for yourself especially.

It's why I don't mind paying more for health care so that others can reap the benefits of me doing so.

But we are living in a new economy with new variables to contend with.Dallas has ALWAYS been a big boom/bust real estate market versus Austin (steady up and to the right) and San Antonio (increasing but more slow and steady primarily because of aerospace and healthcare).  

Background: I am a self employed healthcare pharmacy IT consultant working 80 hours a week by day and a real estate agent and investor on the side.

Healthcare is not cheap nor are the day to day living expenses for two retirees in their 60’s.

I think the major employers in the area now are Michigan State University, the State of Michigan government offices, and local healthcare.

Now he does not see all the wonderful social and economic transformation of healthcare , education etc anymore as a very doable thing and this should say something.
