If I am purchasing a house that is in good shape, but has very low property taxes, what are the odds that the city will re-assess and raise them right after I purchase the property?

I'm thinking odds are this plot of land was probably included in the same mortgage...My understanding is that tax deeds once they have been fully through the tax foreclosure process (which this one has been since the deed is listed as owned by the county, right?)

Another key take away for new members to the forums is that while I am in New Jersey and I hear about people in Chicago, or Hawaii, or in any other state get scammed, I am thinking to myself that can never happen to me, there must be something odd going in those states.

Did you present any official documents to her notifying her of the change in ownership.If the first she heard of any potential sale was a knock on the door and a stranger saying "pay me", it's not odd that she's refusing to pay.
