Look for properties inside of the urban villages in those areas.

From what I've seen, OTE is becoming a new safe haven for young people who want the unique historic feel of German or Italian village but can't quite afford the higher prices.

Village government is great and renters are easily available.  

sorry for the late response, I was out of the country for a bit but as @Russell Brazil mentioned, I did house hack for quite a bit with a triplex I have in Charles Village (near JHU).

I think I will probably go the route of buying an iron cast Kohler Villager tub and using a cheap matching fiberglass surround that I could later replace easily if I wanted/needed.

Hi BP,I am considering purchasing a multi-unit in the Slavic Village area of Cleveland and was wondering if anyone has any experience in that area. 

Do people push into Lincoln Village eventually?

I have a job in Berwyn that closed 3/29/17 and still the village has not fully signed off on the plans, so no real work has even  been  started on a 100k rehab of a 2 unit property that should have taken 4 months to complete, on  paper LOL.
