Build that Empire, y'all!

They drive consumer confidence and heat up the economy. . .We, the smart money, buy investments and build empires!.

We are about to close on property number 4 and are cultivating three other potential acquisitions.I few things I have learned during our short life as real estate investors and landlords:1) Running a real estate / {residential} rental business is a lot like running any business ... and it is also very different than other businesses.2) Purchasing rental real estate - at least the small 1-4 residential properties we've acquired thus far - is surprisingly far more difficult (for empirical geeks) than acquiring another business.

We will then sell and use the profits to start building our rental property empire!

We had around 100 single family rentals, and approximately 400 apartment Rentals, and without our property managers, we wouldn't be able to grow our Self Storage Empire.

I went to clubs and meetings for a boatload of techniques while my dad was building an empire of 200+ rental units.

We done it in older (Second Empire/Queen Anne/Victorian) buildings around here that were built with closed soffits.  

If I were you I would start talking about succession planning for his rental empire and tell him you have a genuine interest in taking it over or a portion of it.With an estate as big as his tax implications can become a real problem if measures are not taken prior to his passing.
