cabinets? 

I think him and his insane cabinet are all about to be indicted and/or thrown out of office, so if you have any plans in this arena, I'd steady the course but not try to stick your head out too much until things get a bit saner at the fed level... 

For example he knocked out a wall and the old broken kitchen cabinets.

HG TV uses it as a way of shortcutting time, money and effort by doing cabinet hacks, or built-in hacks or whatever. 

My biggest advice is to do any major demo and work (taking out a wall, replacing/repainting cabinets, refinishing or replacing floors).

With him went his "custom cabinet maker".

I paint the walls but I don' t replace the paneling with drywall.I rip out bad kitchen cabinets but I replace them with craigslist used onesI leave in old carpet if it is still in good shape but not a nice color. 

Without dragging the post out too much, it was essentially a gut remodel (saved cabinets with paint), new bathrooms, new hvac, new windows, new flooring, new paint interior/exterior.

Closed of existing entrance from the foyer to give the kitchen more cabinet and counter space.Replaced old cabinets with new unfinished oak cabinets and then painted them.

Are cabinets stock or custom?
