As far as electrical I got 3 bids and then priced out the costs for the meters and fuse boxes on EBay at the recommendation of my electrician and saved a bundle.

I recently came across a company recommended by a friend, but my initial contact, whom I connected with via Facebook, is no longer active, raising some concerns.

I would also recommend attending a couple of in person meetups so you can increase your chances of learning more from others. 

I do not recommend locking a ton of HELOC money into anything for years and years.

@Diane Kruse we actually buy used all the time from an appliance store.Due to our volume, we've been able to negotiate 6 month warranties.Will say that we would recommend new for Class A & B+ rentals.
