I could buy 3 lambos or Ferraris with what I spent on that money pit... but I love to fly  and RE affords me the lifestyle I desesrve...

There were frustrating years of bloodied knuckles, a very frugal lifestyle & friends/family/colleagues telling me that I will never make money from 'those slums'.

I've never been good at keeping up with a my mailings but this time I am going to try and repeat mail religiously.

Your goal should be to find a happy medium where you enjoy the lifestyle of the place you live and are comfortable investing where it makes sense.And the answer to your actual implied question is "Yes!".

That changed my life, my business, quadrupled my income (just to start) and allowed a life and lifestyle that I would never have achieved had I continued doing what did not work. 

Instead you increased your life style.

Its a slow journey but if investing becomes part of your lifestyle, you forget you even own these properties and your net worth just grows!
