I don’t see the sense in paying off my own house at presumably low interest rates, and exchanging that for a higher rate, variable interest line…unless I have a really good plan for not losing my house.  

Don't jump too early and start connecting with other investors in the area and meet other people who have house hacked near you.

Tell her to go out to a movie and have people do the work when she is gone. 

There were times when my projects were on the verge of failure and I was at risk of losing everything. 

I am ready to get these people out, but it is very difficult in Ontario, Canada. 

HELOCs are great, but too many people take them and deplete the power of the property.

We started with a couple months of research which pretty much boiled down to three things-1- You don't need a sign if everyone who needs to know where you are knows where you are.2- Most people driving by don't see them. 

For most people, that’s foundation and structure issues.

Be honest and straightforward with people.  

This has definitely put a strain on our monthly spending, and feel a bit stuck atm and we really don't want to stop adding to our other investments bc this property makes us lose cash month to month.
