I drove around to all the local carpet stores and then I found one that buys discontinued carpets in bulk and stores the giant rolls in the back in stacks.

Does anyone have any insight or tips on how to proceed with a purchase? 

Not having to learn the landlording aspect removes a huge area of insecurity when taking the jump, or offers a significant value in a partnership situation.BP is a fantastic repository of free knowledge and insight.
