Hi Gino, It sounds like you've already taken some significant steps towards building a career in real estate investing, and you have a strong foundation with your education and work experience.

My guess (as a licensed agent with 15+ years of experience) would be that it won't be a covered loss but again that's just a guess.

Primary reason for wanting to do STR is because I'm interested in gaining hands-on experience with this strategy so I can apply it towards longer-term goals in more traditional vacation markets. 

In my experience good old prospecting can get you there faster and can cost less.

While I look & wait for the next house hacking opportunity , I've identified identified Value add as the long term strategy I’m most interested in.I am looking to get started with Fix & Flips and also BRRRR to get experience with Rehabs with a focus on using OPM.

Does anybody have any knowledge or experience with this?

I understand that there will be impact to the compounding of the TSP funds that I pull out for the loan, but I am speculating if I can buy the right real estate deal, it may offset that impact and get me on the path to accumulating more real estate via BRRRR that will more than compensate in the long term.This would be a general loan from my TSP to fund the down payment for the bigger loan to buy the property .Has anybody had either good or bad experience with this?
