Sorry for my goof up - typing illegal when I meant to say legal, (having illegal on the brain - as Patrick seemed to imply that assigning a contract was shady).

I guess anyone with half a brain can tell who's right and who's blowing smoke.  :-) My business partner was a mechanical engineer who hit it big with a start up company in 2000 and retired at the age of 29.

Could I pick your brain sometime?

@Kevin Breed I know this kind of an old thread, but I was hoping I could pick your brain.

My brain tells me that it's probably going to be hard to find any deals around where I live and so I'd have to start moving outside of my area to open up the potential opportunities. 

Then I'd find a friend who knows a lender, I'd call the lender and tell them I wanted to buy them lunch and pick their brain on some investing questions. 

I have always had self directed ( entrust ) and now Brain Eastman set me up with the best method which is solo check book IRA ... there is no over sight per se other than if you make an investment that is not allowed the IRS can ding you..
