There are indeed some differences with the overall process as most real estate laws are more closely related to how things are done in Spain vs the US but most banks deal with the same players ( Fannie Mae,  HUD, VA etc) that you find in the states with a few twists..

Average occupancy of around 90% for summer AND winter here, this March we'll hit 97% occupancy (one empty night) barring any cancellations this next week.I paid 147k for a 1 bedroom condo and only put 7% down as a Fannie Mae Homepath loan (no PMI) We've put about 7k into updates, improvements, remodeling, and furnishing.

And you can get a conventional loan with great 30 year fixed rates from fannie mae now with only 3% down payment.
