An airline ticket and hotel area cheap compared to a bad deal.You need to identify the types of neighborhoods you are willing to invest in.

Rent out at obscene cottage prices for the tourist season, and then at reasonable suite-hotel prices for the rest of the year.For the winter months you could even make it a "corporate rental" scenario where contract consultants and travelling technicians stay in it for 1-8 weeks at a time.

I am looking for the nest condo-hotel in the US to invest in and maximize both ROI and cash flow.

Don't do your first one away from home.Your planning for time and costs will be off, and you don't want to be away from your support networks and you don't want to pay for a hotel and extra living expenses. 

There is a charm to speaking to the actual owner, makes it more personal, like renting an actual Home and not a hotel room.

You can list your room on airbnb website at a certain price and people on a short (or long) visit to the city can stay at your house, instead of living in a hotel.
