Seems like the overall vibe of BiggerPockets/House Hackers is to do it yourself but we keep going back and forth.Pros- We will live close to our rental (30 mins) and my husband is very handy and can navigate most repairs.Cons- We have 2 little kids and don’t want to deal with all the things.Any suggestions?

I closed on my first house here 6 months after I moved, and networking with other house hackers is what gave me the confidence to know I was analyzing the deal and projected rents correctly.

The only competition you'll likely find in multi-family will be other real estate investors and house-hackers, which would be a smaller audience.Don't get discouraged and don't let a broker tell you that.  

My house hackers are cash flowing even with pmi and only 3.5% down.

Around here we often suggest single family homes for house hackers and in non-HOA neighborhoods.

Keep in mind all the house hackers this does NOT necessarily apply to you.
