Until paid or released they continue on regardless of who is the owner of that property.

My understanding was a sandwich lease is basically someone you lease to subletting your unit or re-leasing to someone else.

You can negotiate with the lender to obtain a partial release of the property from its lien.

My insurance company wants me to have any renters sign a waiver/release of liability for swimming in the river.   

It also has a student loan judgment lien against the property that I am sure I'll have to pay off to release the home to me upon his death even if I am named in the will to receive the home (without my name on deed by then).
