The only predicament this puts me in is the fact that my wife and I are currently building a new home for ourselves that should be finished in early July and without a W-2, I don't think we would be able to close on it with a conventional loan.

Madison was the other big impetus -- he believed that government would corrupt religion.But, this nation wasn't created under a single religion, and while the religious right would be quick to say that our laws were based on moral values defined in the Bible, I'm pretty sure that every other religious group would agree that their religious morals are captured pretty neatly in our legal system as well (I don't know of too many religions that would advocate killing or stealing).I think it's safe to say that most historians would agree that our founding fathers had no intent to define this country as a "Christian nation."
