Seconding what @Max Wilhite said, Multi-Family is a great way to get started.

After reading Rich dad poor dad when I was 16 and began reading more of his books it was clear that a duplex was the way to jump start my career as an investor and more superior than a single family when it came to cashflow.

Loan Officer, Brave Mortgage called me and we started a refinance option to be able to hold the property and get out of the balloon payment.

I was under the impression that I would still need 20% down for DSCR even if I owned the property.

And starting to get some money is better than no money right ? 

I wouldn't start investing in the US if you have no plans on coming back from living in China.

My initial investment there started off a bit rocky.
