I always thought the whole point of any kind of documentation was to protect oneself if he/she had to go to court.I guess I (like many others I'm assuming) would like to get into the SF game but it seems the barrier to entry is sky high with all the new regulations.

@Les Jean-Pierre you can combine multiple accounts into one self directed IRA or Solo 401k.Almost anyone can set up a self directed IRA, while Solo 401k will not work for everyone.
