It also means that the mortgage is still intact and the property is unlikely to have much equity.Remember, banks got TARP money, made profits up the yen-yang (ironically with lots of Chinese money) and these properties are just a pain to remediate on a large scale basis.

@Leon Yang This is a home that sits directly across the street from me that has been empty for about three years...owner had a heart attack while mowing the grass and moved into a condo...I think the income on a monthly basis is key...and if I were him, I would want a balloon at some point in the next 10-15yrs...any suggestions?
