Start listening to the podcasts, reading about, and talking to people who are investing in apartment buildings. This will give you the knowledge and confidence to do it yourself... because if "everyone" else is doing it, why can't you?

Growth starts at the end of your comfort zone. If you are uncomfortable putting an offer on an apartment building, go do it! You'll make some mistakes, but you'll learn from them.

And by the way, you have a community of 800,000 people here at BiggerPockets that are wiling to help you along the way and answer questions you may have. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose! Go for it man!

Thanks Craig. I've listened to quite a few podcasts already, and started attending local meetups. I have yet to find any local investors with apartment purchases under their belt, however. Most of what I see is flipping, or 2-4 units. Again - thanks for your advice and motivation.

Hey Shazia, thank you for my first welcome, and thanks for keeping me in mind.

Thank you Kenneth. I will take that into consideration. I have made one offer so far on a 4-family that was bank-owned. However the winning bid was ~50% more than the asking price. Maybe this a tough time to get started.

Garrett, thank you for the warm welcome. You sure are right on that note.  I learned so much more by walking through my first (and only at this point) house in person than I could have imagined. Now I know more about what to look for when searching for real estate agents and contractors. The BP resource has been a huge help as well - but nothing trumps the first-hand experience in my eyes.

Steven, great to be here. Congratulations on your first purchase. I sent you a PM.

Hello Tom! Thanks for your time. I enjoyed your article. Your fourth point stands out to me: having an insider's view and watching how your specific market trends is a difference maker. My thought process is that if we are at the top of a market trend - correct me if I'm wrong - then at least I will know what to look for in the future, all while still being able to analyze deals and hopefully jump on a good one when I see it.

Hi BiggerPockets community.

My name is Zach and I have been following Real Estate investing for roughly the past year - soaking up as much information as I possibly can. I'd like to introduce myself to the community and get involved by connecting with others.

I'm currently in the Cleveland, OH area, on the lookout for deals. Ideally, I would like to pursue large multi-family properties (12-16+ units) if possible. However, there has definitely been some analysis-paralysis going on.

Anyway, I look forward to meeting fellow BP members.

Happy Investing!
