All,

Does anyone know a property manager for short-term rentals? I own a 3 bed, 2 bath unit that needs a property manager. Rentals are 2 nights to several weeks.  The key responsibilities include: cleaning between guests, inspecting the unit for damage between guests, and taking out the trash.

I would appreciate any recommendations.

Michael, I wish you good luck with investing and also want to caution that by using retirement money, you're taking on significantly more risk than someone with 20, 10, or event just 5 more years to retirement. In addition to learning about real estate investing, I highly recommend learning about retirement planing and becoming financially independent. For example, how much money in principle and what rate of return do you need to maintain your principle while living off the investment gains?

Also, financial planners recommend projecting that you live until at least age 90. Would include that in your projections.

Networthify has a simple tool for showing how much you need to live off your principle. There are lots of blogs on financial independence showing how people of various ages (35, 40, 55) became and maintained financial independence.

Good luck! Keep learning about personal finance!

@Rob Lucey Thanks very much for the details. I've been thinking about buying a place out in Galveston.

@Alan Vieyra Do you have suggestions on specific REI or other investment organizations or Mastermind groups in Houston?

I'm renting a property in East Downtown and look forward to buying and renting another. Want to learn about rehabbing also!
