Hello BP,

I have been looking into investing in Cleveland Ohio for a few months now and have been researching neighborhoods to begin in. Today, I came across this article about the most distressed cities in america and basically ranked Cleveland #1 on the most distressed cities. Should I be deterred from investing in this market? Would like to hear all your thoughts.

Gwen Fyfe Congratulations on closing on your quad! I'm also looking in other parts of Ohio such as Cleveland Heights, Parma, Lakewood, Garfield Heights, Shaker Heights and Old Brooklyn. However I've been noticing some of these areas have quite high taxes. I appreciate the offer of helping me drive by and check on my future investment, might actually take you up on that. :) Let's stay in touch and maybe we can work on a deal together in the future. Best of luck!

@Jessie Niu

Thanks for your insight. Are there any neighborhoods I should be looking at in Columbus? Really want a area with low crime and good school districts to attract quality tenants.

@Tom Ott

Hi Tom, looking to jump in and scale quickly which is why I'm looking into Multi-Families. I read your article but can you elaborate a little bit more on how it can eat into my ROI? I will definitely be using a property manager out there as I reside in NYC.

@Brandon Sturgill

Appreciate the suggestion. I will look into Columbus as well and do some research. I'm definitely leaning toward making my first investment a sound one in an area with good economic & population growth as well as low crime and good schools.

@Faisal Sami

Thanks for bringing up the Point of Sale, I was definitely not aware of that and will take that into account when looking at properties.

@David Terbeek

Thanks for elaborating on Point of Sale and appreciate your advice.

@Timothy Murphy III Thanks for the quick glance.  I think I have narrowed down the area I would like to start my real estate investment journey in.  Looking to build a trusted team out in Ohio as my goal is to expand my portfolio in that market.
