Thanks for the welcome @Lucas Vaughn

Is there a BP meet up in DFW anytime soon that you know of?

@Michael Leffelholz Hopefully at some point I can help, but right now, I'm looking for my first deal and don't really have the experience or knowledge that I think you're looking for. Feel free to keep in touch though. Maybe I'll be able to help down the road.

@Brandon Turner , not sure why my tags don't always work, but wanted to make sure it did this time :)

Thanks @Brandon Turner. Since signing up, I've been listening to the podcast on my way to and from work. There's just so much information here! I've been trying to do a lot of reading, especially this site, listening to podcasts, etc. but the steps I'm taking now are finding money lenders and realtors and just jumping into a deal when I can find one. I actually got in touch with a realtor that I went to highschool with, and am hoping to meet up with him soon. Great site!

Thanks for the replies guys.

@Paul Timmins I've now subscribed to the podcast and have started looking at the beginner's guide. If you have more detail or ideas that you'd like to share about Niche or Specialized Housing, please feel free to shoot me a message. My buddy told me that his uncle specializes in Section 8 housing, which sounds like it'd be in this category you're talking about.

@Gautam Venkatesan and @John Jackson I'm actually planning to attend a meetup called "Regular guys getting rich" in Arlington on Monday, Feb 24th (tomorrow) where lease options in TX is supposed to be a focus. Not sure if either of you were aware of this event. Anyway, hopefully I'll get some info there too.

Thanks again.

Hey everyone,

My name is Brent and I'm from Flower Mound, which is between Denton (where UNT is) and Dallas. Grew up in this area, went to college in San Antonio, and came back because I like it so much here.

I was recently part of a whole-site layoff at BlackBerry, which is when I started looking closer at real estate investing. Got a job pretty soon after which has slowed down my progress in real estate, but I badly want to get deeper into this because I think it's something I'll really enjoy.

I'm trying to start with quick rehabs to build capital before expanding to other areas like single family rentals, lease options, and mobile homes to name a few. As a longer-term goal, I'd like to get into apartment complexes and see what else is out there after that.

Right now, I'm trying to focus on finding some good REI focused realtors and hard money lenders to get my team started, but I'm absolutely open to any advice for a newbie.

Thanks for taking the time to read. :)
