I am new to real estate investing and looking for advice or guidance. I am looking to build a duplex with a construction loan and have everything set to build and live in the duplex as a house hack, but pending appraisal so that might derail everything. While I was waiting I found a quad plex that I felt was a good price that I could house hack. My question is would I run into any problems attempting both at the same time funding wise. I would like to now apply for a home loan apart from my already in process construction loan that was supposed to be geared towards primary residence.

This is my first diving into this, any and all guidance is appreciated. I am looking to build a quadplex as my primary residence using va financing once the construction loan is complete. I am trying to get va financed mortgage built as affordably as possible using a template a friend of mine has used before. I'm hoping to get financing for approximately 450,000. My question is, is there any suggestions or recommendations on if my financing is the best plan. My goal was to try to get va financing to avoid as much out of pocket as possible so that I can do a second investment soon after this quadplex is built. Also wanting to know if there is a better way to finance other than doing the 20% down on the construction loan for 80% Ltv on the initial construction loan?
Goals: -try to keep as much cash as possible once qplex is built in order to reinvest in other properties
- learn the building process in order to build eventually
-retirement investment property
Questions: - is there a way to get 90% as oppesed to 80 Ltv for constrution loan
- will i get cash back when construction loan is eventually Va financed
-is going convential financing more appropriate for this strategy?

Thanks for asking. I have pulled equity and have about 25000 in the bank to try to help buy properties. Part of my thinking was that now that I refinanced my mortgage payment would be the same amount the renter would pay rent on it, so I would be a little scared having a mortgage payment sitting until I find a renter as opposed to being all in on a duplex. I guess what your asking g is part of mybdillema of what to to as a first time property investor.

I am wanting to sell my house and buy a duplex where me and my family can live in for temporarily for tax purposes. I also am looking to invest in another duplex with a coborrower. Is it wiser to make sure I get my duplex first and then be on the lookout for the next duplex with my coborrower or does it make a difference.
