thank you. I understand now.
So is there any difference in co-signing and co-borrowing for an FHA loan?
Thank you very much @Paul Defngin . It has been difficult finding a cosigner and I think the bank said they might have an issue having her as a cosigner. I have the house under contract so it is a relief that we can get this loan to close now.
Has anyone ever purchased a single family home with an fha loan and had their grilfriend cosign for them? Can you have a friend cosign, or does it have to be a blood relative? I am in New Jersey.

Hi BP members. My name is Wagner and I am looking to by my first investment property in Northern New Jersey in Hudson county. I am looking at 2 Single family homes that are located in a R2 and R3 zone respectively. Does anyone have experience converting Single Family homes into Multi-family homes in New Jersey. I read a forum on BP from an investor in New York and he did very well in a similar endeavor. Thanks.

Hello @Ken Wang. I currently do not have my own home, but I am in the process of purchasing a home. I am targeting a 2 bedroom single family home that has a full unfinished basement. I do not want to make the basement into a separate unit, but I do want to make a full bath and bedroom in the basement for those times when relatives visit.

My questions are, what height is your basement ceiling and does the basement need 2 exits even though it is not being used as a rental? Should I just ask my county inspector because I am looking at a home in North Bergen, NJ? It is really good info knowing that it can be called a studio to allow you to rent it out. I would have never known that. Thanks.

Is the "license" similar to a certificate of occupancy?

I am new to BiggerPockets and am looking to buy my first real estate investment property in the next 3 months near the Hudson county, NJ area and I see a lot of homes on the MLS that say buyer responsible for CO certificate of occupancy.
