Hello,

My husband just bought a home to rent out  that needs lots of remodeling done.. He thought he would be able to get a "home remodeling" loan but it turns out one cant get one until home has some equity.

what are types of loans to be able to fix the house up ASAP?

@Michael W. very informative. thank you. I have to look into portfolio loans and learn about them too. I asked the Realtor this weekend about them and she's never heard of them

@Huy Nguyen :) Thanks for the info! I do save up i think I have a good amount of money saved up but if I would give it all on a 20% down payment that would be it and have no more, i would rather keep some and use it for something else it would be better. I don't intend to buy a expensive house to start off. I think i will be better off starting small and something low maintenance to get some experience.

@Andres Jaramillo yes, I was told this weekend by a realtor that was the way to go. Credit unions don't offer as many mortgage loans as they use to after the hurricane in Galveston area.

@Nilesh Makhija thanks for the information andmotivation!  :)

@Elizabeth C. cant wait to read it :)

@Account Closed Thank You.. I was thinking to start off with my credit union. They seem to have lower interest rates and a bit lenient.  Even if I buy a house less than 100K, i couldn't come up with 20% down payment right away, especially for more than one house.. any advice there?

appreciate it guys.

Hello everyone!

My name is Val,

Just opened up my BP profile.  I am looking for away to make a bit extra cash and accumulate assets.  Real Estate sounds like an interesting, fun, challenging way on doing it.  I've been trying to read up on everything that I can before I get started.

I love watching all those HGTV shows on people buying, fixing, flipping and negotiating on homes.. The idea that that could be me excites and motivates me.

About a year and a half ago and I bought my first home and learned some new things from the experience. However, that is all the experience I have... So any tips, ideas, suggestions are appreciate it.  Thank You!
