Post: Buffalo Duplex Investing?

Hey Buffalo investors, I wanted to ask for input about investing in the area. My partner and I are in our late 20s. We’re moving from HI, but he’s from the Finger Lakes and has friends and family nearby. We also both went to school upstate. We have ~$85k liquid and we make ~$120k/year together with our W-2 jobs.

We plan to buy a duplex, add some cosmetic sweat equity, and start by renting out one side and living in the other. I have a history as a leasing agent, so I’m very comfortable with finding renters. Ideally we’d like to progress to several properties over the next few years. We’re specifically looking in Kaisertown, Lovejoy, Seneca, South Park, Cazenovia Park, Triangle, and Abbott, but we’re open to other suggestions!

We’d love any recommendations for an investor-friendly agent for locating properties. If anyone has any helpful tips or advice we would greatly appreciate that as well. Thank you in advance!

Hey everyone, I wanted to ask if anyone has thoughts about investing in the Cleveland area. My longtime boyfriend and I are looking to buy singlefamilies with good potential for sweat equity in the area, although we're also considering other cities such as Indianapolis. I am currently a leasing agent while my boyfriend is a loan processor.

We're specifically looking at Brooklyn, Euclid, Garfield Heights, and Cleveland Heights, but we're open to considering other neighborhoods! We are not very familiar with the city, and have been doing research with this guide as a starting point. We've also noticed Cleveland has relatively high property taxes. Is there any way to mitigate the property tax burden, or are there areas with lower taxes?

If anyone has any helpful tips or advice we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance!
