Quote from @John Warren:

@Victor Banda your best bet is to connect with a local real estate attorney. I have a great attorney I can connect you with. You definitely want to make sure you know what you are doing in a situation like this before you start spending your money. I would also make sure there aren't additional unpaid bills you would be inheriting like water. A lot of times when people are unable to pay taxes, they also let the water bill go unpaid and that can be another large expense.

Thank you for your response, I would definitely appreciate if you could connect me with that lawyer. I am running against time since Cook County property tax code requires all debts to be paid in full according the the redemption papers. I would like to know how I can side step this fee. The man has lived without water or gas for years now, the house itself is a total loss but the value of the property is what is keeping me on the hook. Its a great area and has a lot of potential.

Quote from @Eliott Elias:

You would get with your county and discuss options. I don't believe you have to pay all at once

I dont think so either but the documents for the redemption taxes said had on there that pero property tax code no partial payments can be accepted.

My neighbor has lived in his house his whole life but he never transferred it into his name when his parents passed away. He is a senior citizen now and lives off of disability. He has all the documents necessary for a quitclaim deed but he hasn't paid taxes in the last 5 years and another company has already bought the unpaid taxes. I just received the amount in order to redeem the taxes and have 2 years to pay in full. I was wondering if anyone knows how to go about only paying a percentage of this? I am aware there is a way where I wouldn't have to pay anything at all depending on my area tax code. I live in Cook County. Any tips or people I may network with?
