Gene, thank you for such great information and insight into the Ridgecrest area. And thanks to you Sanjeev for giving Gene a 'thumbs up". The article you provided, Gene, was a moral booster in favor of this potential investment. I will be getting more information on the properties this week. I appreciate your time and thoughts for my first investment. Wish me luck!

I have an opportunity to purchase my first rental property in Kern County, CA. Ridgecrest to be exact. I live about 3 hours away. The price of the property and the rental income it would provide sound great but don't know the area. There is a military installation very close that could mean a steady flow of renters. I'm hoping that someone has rental properties in that area or knows the area well enough to provide some advice.

I'm a new investor in Orange County, CA and I am looking for investor friendly banks for both conventional loans and commercial loans. Has anyone had any particularly good experiences at community banks? If so which ones? Thank you for any suggestions you have!

I was born and raised in Southern California (born in San Diego County, now reside in Orange County). I have had some experience in real estate (as an agent in Maryland for a short while) and buying and selling homes that my ex-husband and I have purchased and sold (for personal use). I am currently looking for a small multi-family property in OC to be owner occupied. Would also like to flip properties. I am lucky to have a great RE agent/investor/ mentor in my corner as well as a wonderful (and patient) mortgage broker. Currently I work at Trader Joes, a job I love but need to think about retirement and building a portfolio.

I attend local RE meetups when I can to meet other local investors but am looking forward to meeting other BP members!
