Welcome Sami,

Join some local REIA's and make some of the meet-ups, this is a very dynamic market with a lot of activity.

The major pitfalls here are property taxes and HOA's from what I can see. Mold is not a major issue as long as you keep your plumbing inspected, the flood plain maps are a constantly moving target, when you get an insurance quote for a property you are thinking about they will be able to tell you if you are in flood plain or not.

Hey Cameron,

Welcome to BP, make sure you join the local REI's and meet up groups in the area. These are places where you will be able to meet wholesalers.

Also, there seems to be quite a few here on BP, as well.

The local Chambers of Commerce and the city of Houston planning commissions are also great places to look for that info.

The beauty of Houston right now is that everywhere seems to be hot. But specifically the energy corridor (out I-10 west towards Katy) and up north (Spring, Humble, The Woodlands) is undergoing major job growth and expansion.
