Completely agree with David. Go for the low down conventional mortgage because your PMI will terminate after you reach 20% LTV vs staying on the life of the loan using the FHA.

I will be working for a company in the Energy Corridor in Houston starting in September and I want to start house hacking right away with an interest in multifamily homes. I would like to live in a 25-30 minute radius of work but want to be in a good area. Can anyone tell me, is this a good area to invest in real estate? I am also thinking about investing in a house hack that is close to a couple local Universities, any thoughts on this as well? Is there anything else I need to know about the Houston area that makes it different?

Hi all, I will be graduating college and moving to Houston, TX next year. I would like to immediately start out house hacking a duplex, but I may want to find a short lease in an apartment to get a better feel for the area. I am a Dave Ramsey follower and do not have a credit card and would like any advice I can get. Thanks!
