Congrats on getting started! As an active-duty (soon transitioning) Air Force myself, I know the VA loan is a powerful asset for us. Destin is a great spot for house hacking—tourism is strong, so renting out part of your property could help with the mortgage. Just check the local rules to make sure you're good to go!
