Think over this too guys. The companies that hire these immigrants are paying them below minimum wage in most cases and if they were citizens, they would have to be paid minimum wage by law. So if you have 50 people that you can hire and pay them $2-$3 less per hour, you would save tons of money in labor per year. So in my mind, the companies that benefit the most from this labor, benefit the most from policies that keep it "illegal" and I'm sure they have lobbyists to help them along the way. Can anyone say"Jack Abramoff?" . People like him, help people like them(corporate hounds) stay ahead of people like us. I am sure that Texas gets alot, but I am near Chicago and there are a great many here also and for the record, property values in hispanic neighborhoods is way, way up.

Looking to dialoguge on this topic so let me begin by saying this;
I do not believe that we should have an open border, however in a country where we enjoy the melting pot status, where Ellis Island brought in the ancestors of some of our finest citizens, where none of us originated here, and also where we brought in millions against their will(slavery), I think it only fitting that we work to make a way that people from south of the border can come here and enjoy the fruits of this nation just like those who came from Europe, Asia and elsewhere. I think they enter "illegally" because of difficulties in the laws and processes to get here. I for one do not feel a threat from them. Let them share in the dream we sell to the world of our economy and way of life. Everyone here except the former slaves came here to escape something, religious persecution, economic struggles etc, and now here we are(not all of us) telling others that they are not good enough to be here, or trying to send them all back. If we look at the records we will find that some of the people that shaped this nation in many ways did not come correctly. So my point is that we should make ways to allow them to come in, not as guest workers but full citizens. Many of us here benefit from their labor and I have benefitted from knowing many of them personally. They, like us are good people trying to survive.

Dont everyone kick me at once!

Perhaps we can start a thread on the immigration issue. I dont go on political message boards too often , I spend my time on the RE stuff. I like to know what others think.

Great conversation Adam, but I will just say watch out because the freedoms you see today are slowly being eroded in order to protect us from someone else that we are trying to set free!! Think over that.

Adam, Saddam was a dictator, but when a President sets up wiretapping without using an established court and with the executive powers that he has, he can and is dictating in this particular area. He has laws to obey but from wiretapping to the Ports deal, he has been gradually trying to do it his way. Saddam did have free reign but you must know what Iraq was really like. It was not a nation that was in complete despair, many Iraqis agree that they had a more stable life before the war. These are Shia Muslims also. They once had a higher literacy rate than the US and it was the good old US that put him in power and they were well aware of what he was doing from day one. If you think that concentration camps are a crazy idea just look at these links and watch the videos there and then do a google earth of the detention camps that they claim Halliburton is already building and look at the sites. Then run google search "Halliburton detention camps". and see for yourself. This is not conspiracy theory, this is investigation of facts. http://martiallaw911.info/video.htm and also http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/february2006/010206detentioncamps.htm Read the news beyond the news you know. History is best qualified to reward your research.

Think about it this way Adam and I am all for us being safe by the way, but when the evil Saddam was killing his own people, didnt he eventually say that they were threatening his nation? They tried to assassinate him. Read what they say there. The people that he killed were all people who he felt like posed a threat to his government and thus the safety of the Iraqi people of that time, which by the standard that is evolving here would be warranted to protect this nation. A wiretap now, detention camps next. Let world history be your guide.

We cant become like those that we are waging war against in the name of protecting ourselves from them.

You are cool on this issue. You will always eat well with less stress while others lurk in the shadows for the home run. Keep playing small bal and remember, 4 base hits in a row is better than one lead off home run.

You hit it on the head. If you have a quick flip strategy that you can do smoothly and make a quick 10k or more, you will never have a shortage of deals. "One mans trash is another mans treasure". You will stress a lot less and eat a lot more. I like your style on this point.

I am thankful that you guys are having this conversation because although it has always been my philosophy to keep pressing in the face of adversity, I have an assistant that I am training that has a very hard time with it. Every time we get some bad news on a deal and sometimes even just a routine slowdown for stips etc., he's ready to hit the wall. I had to remind him that I dont function that way and I may end up having to leave him in the dust because I believe that negativity breeds more negativity and as Prohabber said, the law of avereages favor you. If you work in a business like this, doing things the way that you should, the world will not withhold its riches.
