I am putting together the list of question to interview Builders for our home recently been burned down by fire, there are a lot of things we don't know & we are seeking for BP community opinions.

There are few things below we collected but I am sure there are more to know about and should ask the builders before deciding which one to go for.

  • 1.Are you willing to work with my designer during the design process to ensure we are creating a home that meets our budget & need?
  • 2.What means and methods will you use to determine the exact cost of my home?
  • 3.Who will supervise the construction of my home?
  • 4.How often will my project be under direct supervision?
  • 5.May I meet the project manger or project superintendent who will be supervising my project on a daily basis?
  • 6.How will questions and concerns be addressed during construction?
  • 7.How do you qualify the competency of the subcontractors who will work on my project?
  • 8.In the event that there are changes to the design or unforeseen conditions that result in extra cost, what process do you use to communicate these changes to the us, State Farm Insurance?
  • 9.How long do you anticipate the construction of this project will take?
  • 10.How do you service your warranty once the construction is complete?
  • 11.Give us 3 references of recently customer who house burned down by fire
  • Thank you in advance for your help

Hi Joshua, sure we will 'pay the seller a visit'. I put this out there as a warning so people can learn from our story :)

Good luck through the rough time, but at least your new home will be brand new and you can design everything from scratch to make it perfect for your family!

A question stuck in my head is how to improve the inspection & what else we can do to catch most issue as possible before signing in for life mortgage, some time just minor but other time it could be unimaginable & unbearable.
