I want to thank both of you for all your help and suggestions, I understand most of the building area, via my foreman. What I was looking for and it sounds like the Hometech book will help me with is, if my guy gives me a list of materials this house needs, i.e. a toilet, sink and shower I could go home sit down and calculate how much that would be…. I know off the top of my head that a toilet is around $98, sink is around $88 and the shower is roughly $398, but what I don’t know is when he says he needs, a clean out, 10 feet of PVC pipe and the rest of the materials to complete the bathroom, so that’s what I was looking for. I’ve read somewhere that you should spend a weekend at home depot or Lowes and create a spreadsheet, however I go there and get stumped of how to record the data so later when I’m trying to calculate my “rehab†budget with a 20% over run calculated in for mistakes I can get a more accurate figure. So I guess my best bet would be the Hometech guide. I really appreciate both of you trying to help me out; it’s really appreciated by a newbie. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated also.

I haven't seem to come across this topic, unless I've missed it so I'm going to post it. I'm 20 and I'm just starting out in the rehab business. I have 6 going right now. I guess I should explain a little bit of background information. My partner and I split, So I’m stuck running the backend and now the front end, however the problem is I'm not very "carpenter" inclined.... I'm looking for someone to share any spreadsheets they have for "roughing" the cost of repair. I have 3 guys on staff that rehabs the projects. I have slowly begun to learn the time each job takes or should take, however the estimating of repair is still foreign to me. I know I need to spend time at the local hardware store, but I go and try and things seem to not make since, I guess where I’m stuck is creating a sheet or form that will hold the pricing information. If anyone can make sense of my rambling and help me id greatly appreciate it.
