@Virginia Lyons, what cash flow numbers are you trying to hit? Raleigh has gotten pretty expensive these last 3-5 years but it's all relative still.  If you go further out on areas outlying Raleigh (ie Garner, Clayton, Knightdale) you may get a better yield versus paying a premium to be in Raleigh proper.   These cities are only 15-20 minutes from downtown Raleigh so they're rapidly growing in popularity.

I have an agent on my team that covers Durham, from what I understand it's even more competitive in Durham than in Raleigh.

@Daniel Federico Thanks, but this is an old thread!! I ended up getting a refi from New Republic Savings Bank here in NC.

I bought 4 units in a 9 unit complex, so not sure if that counts, but seems Greenville multifamily is pretty scarce.  I would definitely buy a larger multifamily or apartment complex if the numbers were right.  

Reach out to @Brian Corbett - he's my agent/property manager in the Greenville area.  Even though I'm an agent myself in Raleigh, I am still learning about the Greenville market and still rely on local experts.
