Joel,

When you say retail strips are compressing in a few years do you mean the cap rates?

Joel,

With the cash I have, besides strip malls, is there any other areas in the commercial space that I should be looking at to get started? Also, with a a strip mall what is the minimum cash I would need to get into that area?

@Joel Owens

Thanks for the reply. I am looking to finance a portion of the purchase price. I have read on the forums that to finance a commercial property I will need about 20-25% down. If that is the case that means I am looking in the $1MM property range, but the purchase price would have to be a little less for me to have funds for closing costs.  Can I find  decent strip mall around that range?

Hi,

I am located in the NYC metro area, and I am new to commercial real estate. I have an interest in investing in commercial strip malls. So far I have been looking around my area but compared to other locations outside NYC it seems that I can find better opportunities  outside my state.

For those of you who have experience in this area, for strip malls, what are good locations to look into?

Hi all,

I'm located in the NYC metro area. I don't know much about upstate NY. How is the economy doing? Is it a place where you all are willing to invest in?
