Buying a 2 family home and I will be living in this unit. Ignore the horrible décor. What would be the best bang for my buck as far as charging slightly more rent + give a nice living experience while I'm there. Obviously I don't want to spend too much because I won't be living there forever. But I do want it to be nice for myself while I am there and for future renters. Durable, minimal upkeep materials would be needed.

Flooring is the first thing that comes to mind. I want to replace it with wood or something that looks like wood..What would be a good inexpensive durable material to use?

Repainting the white walls. Something light in color but appealing to most. I just personally don't like white walls

Kitchen painting the cabinets a light gray would enhance the look in my opinion, with new hardware...low cost

Kitchen, what kind of countertops would you suggest? Formica/Laminate?

Kitchen appliances stainless steel? Do you think this would be worth it?

(the over range microwave doesn't work and neither does the dishwasher, so I was thinking of changing the color to stainless steel and replacing the fridge and stove as well)

Any other suggestions you have would be great.
