@Richard F. - Thanks, go information to know.

I have seen ground squirrels go right through 5/8 drywall ceilings and eat wires.

So I should have assumed as much.

Sealing npt pipe threads. Pro dope (Lowes) works better than teflon tape.

Better yet avoid pipe threads if possible, do not recall ever having pex leak.

Plumbing-you can install a valve in line to allow use of some plumbing now, and finish down line stuff later. For example I can have a sink working now and deal with  the ice maker later.

For removing old flooring use a shingle shovel with a sharpened edge.

Sorry it’s been a while since I last posted anything.

Today’s tip is what type of electric/ plumbing guard to use. I have been using the flat type for years. Recently discovered a round one, big improvements.

First you only need one, instead of two. Second they are way less likely to fall out. Third they leave the stud much more usable for drywall, etc. forth they can be installed when only one side of the wall is open.

Ok, so here’s the down sides. Can not easily be added to existing stuff. You need to drill a 1” hole, so if your studs are close together, that’s not happening. They are more money, but you need half as many.

until you own and drive an EV you wont.. thats why i took the time to write that out..  LOL..

Advertised Range is just range in a perfect world and you would never get that ..  but lets say you bought the cheapest one for the 230 mile range..  If you were not driving more than 150 miles a day or right about there .. then your fine..

And most people dont drive more than 150 a day..  its important to check if your jurisdiction has reduced power rates at certain hours then charge at those times.  Also you pretty much need to have charger at your home were you park every night without it cant see how these vehicles would be practical.. unless maybe like some of the employers here in the northwest they have plugs ins for free on their campus but as these cars become more popular those will get filled up .  plus they dont charge fast.

Our electric cost is the same all day every day, around 4.9 cents.
How much are the charging stations installed in your house? In my case this car would rarely go more than 100 miles from the house.

Quote from @Maxim Lorenz:

@Steven Westlake I have 2010 Tahoe that I bought on Copart as salvage 8 years ago and rebuilt it myself. No point of selling it and I always knew I would run it until wheel falls off. Bought with 40k miles, now 170k and runs strong. Gas milage is crap and I too considered electric until I realized that traveling long distance is unreal and not only requires regular, top off charging, but also reroutes where charging stations are available which add significantly to time traveled if charging donations available (even worse overseas). It helps me that tahoe uses flex fuel where in even CO still around $3/gal. I ended up buying a small, 1.6l Ford SUV to get around (again on copart but as clean title) to use as my daily commute and still use tahoe to tow (it has insane for SUV GWVR) and to move junk and tools for my housing projects.

My plan is to compare a similar ice vehicle , and see where the total cost lands. I’ll even estimate how high fuel could go in the future. But trying to get my head around all the stuff that is different first.
