I was in your shoes a year ago.

I found a bunch of mentors in the syndication space through some very bold action steps. I would listen to differnt podcast on the subject, and then reach out to the people being interviewed to ask genuine questions about whatever it was that they were talking about. A lot of time they would leave an invite to connect at the end of each podcast.

The big win in this was obviously making that connection. At the end of each conversation i would ask if they would be okay if i called them if i needed any other help throughout my journey.

I surprisingly have never had anyone turn down an opportunity to help a new investor!

To give a sense on how long it takes to actually feel confident and knowledgeable in this industry, I just started calling on bigger multifamily deals with confidence that I can close just over a month ago.

Feel free to connect with any other questions.

Hope this helps!

 Is this still happening?

Hi Caleb.

I seen your post about looking for networking opportunities in Michigan for investor agents in Michigan.

I'm also from Michigan and a former agent myself. I know a lot of residential brokers are also selling small to mid sized multifamily in Michigan. I know 2 of them personally.

I've also been looking for meet ups around real estate investing here in Michigan and also noticed a lack of networking opportunities as well. I'm from the Traverse City area.

What are your goals specifically on this topic?

 What's going on BP community.

I'm not seeing as many real estate networking events anywhere in Michigan. I've looked on the nreia website, and meetup.com.

Is there anything in Michigan that I'm just not seeing??

My focus is small to mid sized apartment syndications if that matters.

 Thanks in advance!

What's up Bigger Pockets community!!

My name is Steven Jaszcz and I'm from Traverse City, MI.

I'm looking to get started in syndicating apartments (30 units+). I have become extremely good at analyzing and can confidently identify a good opportunity when I see one. I have become comfortable talking with brokers and other experts in the industry. I have even reached out to a few really well known and experienced investors who are willing to sponsor a deal with me.

My struggle is raising capital. I've read all the books that assume i automatically know people with money. In my experience trying to raise capital from people within the real estate community doesn't seem to be the best method because most people in real estate are more interested in building their own businesses, rather than investing in someone elses (especially when considering how much money it takes to invest in syndications). I have also tried bringing deals to other experienced investors, but getting brokers on board with this has been a hard sell as they could just as easily send those same deals directly to the more experienced operators.

As i continue to pursue this path, I also wanted to put an opportunity out there to any new potential partners.

If you are someone who is confident in raising money looking to partner on a deal, or are an experienced investor who has some good advise in this area please reach out!

I'm always eager to learn and enjoy meeting new people and talking about real estate.
