Appreciate the information! The parking for the ADU will run along the side of the primary w plenty of space for back to back cars. The primary will have parking in front of it for 3 side by side and back to back. Plus the street isn't a busy one. My thoughts are to have a fire pit area in between the units since each will also have their own terraces. See prelim site plan

Hi guys,

New to this site. Was about to embark on a new construction project in Gainesville. Being a UF grad I've thought about investing in Gainesville for a while now. I just bought a lot which I'm now splitting due to the new SFR zoning. It will be a 50'x100' lot with a two story primary 3bd 3.5ba 2 car garage 1500sqft and a 2b 2.5ba ADU unit in the back. I've built before in Miami and Melbourne but never in Gainesville. I was just wondering if I could get all your thoughts? Type of construction materials for the build(block/metal frame/wood frame), separate utilities, finishes, tech, cleaning crews, any tips and tricks would be HUGE! My idea is for this to be a STR since proximity to Ben Hill is only 8 blocks. STR each unit separately or as a larger home, not sure your thoughts.

Hello,

Was going to start construction on a two story 3bd 3.5ba 1500sqft primary home and a 2bd 2.5ba 800sqft ADU. Looking for suggestions on any specific building materials, fixtures, accessories, furniture, and tech for a STR. It would be mainly rented to alumni, parents of students and people exploring the area by the University of Florida. Its about 8 blocks from the football stadium. I've built homes before but never for a STR investment.
