We purchased cash in 2013. When we started our construction company in 2015 we got a HELOC on it.

Currently we use word of mouth, craigslist, drive bys.  We also offer our guys $$$ if they find a house that fits our criteria being that they are all over the city all day every day it only makes sense.

  We haven't had a lot of luck, but we are also pretty picky on what and where. And we haven't really put a lot of effort into it either.  We are hoping to change all that this year.

@John Thedford  hit it right on the button.  When I run across a wholesale offering the only thing I'm looking at is address.  I don't care what they put on the fancy sell sheet 9 times out of 10 its BS.    Maybe I don't have the "in" with the right wholesalers.  But thats my experience.

Hey all, I am an investor in the Kansas City area looking for buying opportunities in the urban core.

I am 31yrs old and own a construction company involved in new construction multi-family. We employ 10 guys and have worked for many of the top GC's in the area including McCown-Gordon, HarenLaughlin, MW Builders, and Brinkmann Constructors. I concentrate heavily on the new multi-use developments in the downtown area including Crossroads West (Cityscape Residential @ SW Blvd & I 35), the 27th & Gilham development (Milhaus/TITANBuilt), Berkley Riverfront(MW Builders).

I am very interested in the revitalization of Kansas City, MO. I am also very interested in developments along the Troost corridor.

On the personal/residential side, my wife and I currently have one investment property that we rent out and has been very successful for us. And looking to add more!

Glad to have found these forums. Have read some very insightful posts here and look forward to contributing as well.
