Post: When does it make sense to get an insurance license?

No dumb ideas. I'm an insurance agent in Pittsburgh and obviously in insure all of my own units and I do sell insurance to some of my tenants. Could be a great career change for you. You will make 15% or so on premium. If you have 100 units and pay $1000 a year per unit that would be $10-$15k annually. Not to mention other business you could write. Biggest challenge will be getting licensed with a carrier. They will want volume. You may be better of finding a local firm you can sell for after you are licensed. You will take a haircut on commissions but will be easier than getting a company to give you a contract. Anything is possible though and the residual I con from insurance cannot be beat. Hope this helps.
