Does anyone have any information about the overbid process from the tax sales in obtaining money back from the county tax bureau? Not sure if there is a time limit, this is for Beaver County. There is an inheritance tax lien on the property and I was trying to get that taken care of before the sold the property. The original owner never paid the lien when the property was transferred to him so id like to either pay for him to get his overbid back and have the county take the lien off before he receives his funds.

I wondered what anyone thinks about possession of a property. I bought this house at a Pennsylvania upset tax sale and there was the prior owner living in the property. He wouldnt get out so I took to the magistrate and the case was delayed because he 302'd himself when he found out i was taking him to the magistrate. He was in the mental ward at the local hospital for 2 weeks and then returned but has since left the property and im not sure where he is now. If hes not currently living there do i still need to fight for possession?  thank you

I purchased a sheriff sale this week for 58,000 and the lender quit bidding at 34,000. I was bid up by another investor.  The sheriff dept. advised since this went above what the lender was owed , the legal dept at the courthouse will do a lien search. From my research there is nothing else owed to anyone except the original lender. So who receives the extra money above the 34,000? Is it the original owner, courthouse , myself (haha)....Im a little new to sheriff sales.

Could anybody share insight if it would be foolish to try and do an ejectment on your own without a lawyer? This property is in Pennsylvania...thank you

I appreciate the responses, thank you!

I purchased a property  at the tax sale in PA at the Upset Sale which is subject to any lien, mortgages etc.  The property is clear except for a signature from the previous owner to quiet the title. I had heard the previous owned died but could not find any information and the courthouse has no death certificate. My question is if I sell the property will a title search show anything different from what i researched?  The reason being if the previous owner passed and there is no estate i will have to pay 15% inheritance taxes. Anyone have any ideas if i could get out of having to pay these taxes if they are deceased?  thank you
