Thanks for the feedback/advice.  The property is actually located in Kenner; we did not feel comfortable investing in Orleans Parish at the time.   We participated in several auctions including St. Tammany, Tangi, and Caddo.  However, Jefferson Parish has given us the most trouble...

The issue with this property is the balance due for past taxes / code enforcement violations due to the City of Kenner.  As of today, the outstanding balance is just below $10K.

I have not looked at the property, but actually received the same advise just yesterday.   The ZIP is 70062.

$575 sounds pretty competitive for the complexity of your return.   Obviously, the type and extent of the "investments" you have plays a major role in determination of the cost of your return.  Also, the organization of your books/records play a major role in the cost of your return.   But remember, you should be paying for expertise / recommendations... not just someone to plug figures into a return.

I invested in tax liens in a Louisiana parish two years ago, and today I received a certified letter from an attorney representing the city.   The letter indicated that the property is "unsafe and dangerous under the provision of the City's building code and the Code of Ordinances.   Due to the circumstances that surrounds the structure, the city is seeking to demolish the property.   The letter states the importance to seek legal representation immediately.

My stance/understanding is that I do not have a legal obligation to maintain the property, nor do I am required to fund the demolishing of the structure.   I do not have an ownership interest in the property.... Am I missing something?   Is this merely a tactic to scare me into financing something that I am not legally obligated?

Should I seek council regarding this matter or send correspondence with the City/Attorney surrounding my limited interest in this property.

Thanks for your assistance with this matter.
