@Gorden Lopes we are moving due to work. My husband is in the military and will be working at Redstone Arsenal. And yes! I would love any recommendations on agents! :) Thank you for the feedback!

Some great points being made. My husband and I just found out we will be moving to Huntsville in December. We plan on buying our second investment property that we will be occupying while living in Huntsville. This has directed my focus to the Madison area. We also plan on buying an additional property next year while we gain more knowledge of the area. With our particular situation we are, I believe, “house hacking“? Forgive me, as my investment lingo is lacking. Newbie!! Paying the house down before we leave and then maximizing our rent potential. In this scenario, we have contemplated a new build. Is there room for negotiation? Is this a big no no? Pros/Cons? Any thoughts?!

@Stone Saathoff thank you so much for reaching out. There is always a possibility we will be in San Antonio at some point in my husbands career. We actually just found out we will be heading to Huntsville, AL. If you know of anyone with a good knowledge base on that area, send them my way! :)

@Maria T. if we ever come to the area, we would love to partner up! We currently invest where the Army takes us. As of right now it doesn’t look like Orlando is on the list. We are most likely heading to Huntsville, AL, San Antonio, TX or Warren, MI. So my research has been shifted.

@Bei He, since your post a year ago, where did your research take you!? Did you buy in the Orlando area? Hoping to get some good feedback as this is a potential area my husband and I may go this December.

I am in the process of searching for lenders. Are there any recommendations my fellow investors can make? Does 3.2% with 0.5 points sound like a too good too be true with Amerisave?

Thank you all for your feedback. Chris Pastrana and Jerry Padilla, I am looking to buy a house that we could occupy during our time at that particular duty station. We are not landlord type of people (I tend to be too lenient). Therefore, we would go through a property manager when we leave.

So I am a military spouse looking for guidance and suggestions on buying houses for investment purposes. Im still on the fence about the idea as it could turn out to be a very expensive mistake. We will be moving in about 6 months and are looking to buy at our next duty station (depending on where we are sent). Fort Polk seems to be the big talk these days (so any info on the area would be much appreciated). It seems as if there is always a market close to installations, but I could be wrong. At Fork Polk in particular the rent is overpriced for the quality of home and there is not much to choose from. Any info would be great. Thank you fellow investors!!!
