@Jordan MoorheadThank you for the message. I have not narrowed anything down quite yet. I would be leaning towards BURRRR right now, but I cannot say for sure. Do you have any suggestions on where I might want to start? What strategy do you use or recommend in the Twin Cities area?

@Heidi PliamNice to meet you, Heidi. Thanks for taking the time to message.

@Melissa Gregg Thank you for the recommendation, I will check it out.

@David Moore I LOVE the podcasts. I have listened to most of them. How can I get involved with the Twin Cities BP group?

Thank you all for the comments.

Hello all,

I will keep this short!

I am a real estate beginner. I recently retired from a 6 year professional baseball career. I have been learning about real estate for the past couple of years and am now ready to take the next steps.

I am not looking for a quick buc. I realize real estate investing is not a get rich quick game. I am in it for the long run and ready to begin the journey.

At this point, I am looking for mentorship and experience. At the same time, I want to add value to your real estate goals; whether that be through helping find deals, answering phone calls, marketing, visiting properties, etc.

I look forward to connecting and any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks,

Bryan

Post: Breaking into Real Estate Investing

Hi all,

I am new to real estate and more than excited. I understand it's not a get-rich-quick- scheme. I understand it takes a lot of hard work and persistence. I have already spent tens of hours reading, listening to podcasts, and watching tutorials on real estate investing- and am inspired. I realize that learning is one thing, doing and getting real life experience is another. With that said, I have no where near the appropriate funds to buy anything-just a perk of being young. (Playing minor league baseball is not very financially rewarding). I'm sure everyone here has heard that story enough times. But this is the situation I'm in. I have a ton of passion to learn, the work ethic to figure it out, and the guts to fail without reconsidering. However, I feel like I am extremely limited due to my financial situation. With that said I have a few simple questions.

1. Do I need to build up capital before I go any further or waste my time learning more?

2. If this business is possible, what's the best way for me to break in to it? Paint houses in exchange for experience? Get my real estate license? Etc.

3. Has anyone been in my shoes who could share their past experiences and how they became successful?

Thanks a lot for any and all advice!

-Bryan

@Wayne Woodson Do you have any advice getting into wholesaling? Do you think this is my best option as a beginner with little capital?

@Dmitriy Fomichenko Thank you for the informative links-I'm eager to learn and get moving.

@Mark Scarola I had never thought about it from that point of view. I do see a lot of different cities so you're right, that could possibly be another angle for me sometime in the future. My main goal right now is to: 1. Figure out my best real estate investing approach (flip, hold, wholesale etc.) while in Nashville for the next 6 months. 2.Take the right actions to learn and understand what rei strategy I choose. 3. Gain experience and get out there and do. From your experience, what do you think might be my best option? (Here's my situation in short: Living in Nash for about 6 months. Will have a ton of free time. Don't have much capital.)

@David Begley My thought right now is that flipping might be my best option. I will not be able to tend to any properties during baseball season so I don't think renting out properties is realistic. I am new to this so please correct me if I am wrong. However, I know I have a lot of learning to do before I start to make any moves. What is a reasonable goal for someone like me with no experience, little capital, and a 6 month time limit? And I would love to have lunch with you when your in Nashville. I will have to do my research but ya I know Nashville is a great place right now for real estate right now.

Thank you for all of the helpful responses-I appreciate all of the advice.

I'm still figuring that out. But I am leaning towards flipping to begin with. I don't stay in one place long enough, because of baseball season starting, to be able to own and maintain a property. Do you have any suggestions? I see your from Nashville.

Hello everyone,

I graduated from Vanderbilt in 2011 and have been playing in the Red Sox Minor Leagues for the past couple of years. I am now interested and passionate about becoming a successful real estate investor. While I'll be in Nashville for the offseason (starting in Oct), I am focused on learning and gaining experience in this new passion of mine-from all I've read and heard, I understand learning from others is the best way to become successful. I'm ready to dive into this world. I know it's not a get rich-over-night scheme and I am fully committed to taking it one step at a time while working extremely hard to speed up the learning curve. I can't wait to learn from everyone here. And if anyone one is from the Nashville area I would love to connect! Thanks a lot for all the help and advice!

Best,

Bryan
