I'm starting to pan the sale of my personal residence. It's about 5 years old and the carpet in the living room and master bedroom are pretty worn. The carpet in the other 3 bedrooms are still in good shape. I'm considering replacing the carpet in the living room, master bedroom and hallways with a nice laminate or wood look tile. My question is would it be odd to have carpet in the 3 other rooms?

I would absolutely recommend reading Set For Life right away. I WISH I had the info from that book right out of college. I believe there is life changing information in that book.

If it flooded almost a year ago and hasn't been gutted, I would imagine there is a pretty big mold issue.

I hate not having more cash sitting around. An amazing deal popped up on the MLS in my subdivision and I can't do anything about it. I'm working on improving my personal balance sheet so I can jump on these deals when they come around.

About what percentage of the sales price do you typically pay as the seller? This shouldn't include agent's commissions or seller paid concessions.

I doubt there is an exact answer to this, but does anyone have an idea of how much Home Depot charges for laminate flooring installation? There has to be an average $ per square foot number. Lowes would be fine also if you've had experience with them.

I have a couple questions about what I've seen so far from my first time having contractors work on a house. First of all, I'm having them put laminate floors down in about 1000 sf of the house. This includes a foyer, living room, 3 bedrooms, 2 small halls, and 4 closets. In two days, the 2 man crew has only got the living room and foyer done. It may be half done, but I'd say not quite. Now I don't have any experience laying laminate floors, but this pace seems really slow to me. I removed all of the old flooring, scraped the glue off of the concrete, removed all the baseboards, and swept up all of the dirt so all they needed to do was put down the underlayment and flooring. In your experience, approximately how long should it take a couple guys to get this done. Second, when I stopped by today to check the progress I found two empty beer bottles on my island. Now I'm not quite sure how to feel about this. There were two bottles for two guys, so I don't get the feeling that they were drinking all day. Maybe they just each had a beer after they finished for the day, but what's bothering me is that I know if I was working in someone's house not only would I not even consider drinking beer there, but even if I did I would never leave the evidence behind for the homeowner to see. Seems unprofessional to me, but like I said, this is a first for me.

I'm trying to decide what flooring to go with to replace the nasty carpet I pulled out of my rental. I was at Home Depot and someone in the flooring department was really talking up the peel and stick wood look vinyl planks. They were talking about how durable they were. Does anyone have any experience with these? I have to make a decision soon.
